Bloomsburg Downs East Stroudsburg in Women's Soccer

EAST STROUDSBURG --The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team, ranked 18th in Division II, beat 25th-ranked East Stroudsburg on Tuesday by a 2-1 score.

Bloomsburg opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Lauren Hess (East Greenville/Upper Perkiomen) scored unassisted. For Hess it was her fourth goal of the season. East Stroudsburg tied the score in the 24th minute when Lynda Hicks scored off a Jennifer Buckley assist.

In the second half, the Huskies survived three shots on goal by the Warriors in a five minute span with Bloomsburg goalie Frances Nicoletti (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield) making three saves.

The Huskies got the gamewinner in the 76th minute when Kelsey Stoka (Langhorne/Neshaminy) scored on an assist by Jourdan Fedusenko (Newark, DE/Newark). In the final 14 minutes of play, Nicoletti made two more saves to preserve the victory.

Bloomsburg, 12-3, 7-2 in the PSAC East, will host Kutztown on Saturday at 1 p.m.
